World Watch Report for 11-12-JUN-2025 - World on Fire Edition
Ukrainian forces make small advances in several areas as the U.S. signals it will pull back even more support. Israel launches a massive attack on Iran, and unrest in the U.S. spreads.
There is too much happening in the world for a full Situation Report (SITREP) or a complete World Watch Report. Today's report provides a summary of the key conflicts and the unrest in the United States.
RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR
Despite Russia’s ongoing summer offensive, Ukrainian forces made some key tactical advances in the last 48 hours.
In the Sumy Oblast, Ukrainian forces were confirmed in the western part of Kindrativka, confirming the village remains contested. Russian forces were pushed out of most of Oleksiivka, and Ukrainian troops made marginal gains in the southern part of Loknya. Ukraine has employed a strategy similar to that used in other areas of operation, where Russian troops are permitted to advance and overextend their ground lines of communication (GLOCs) and then attack their rear areas before forward positions can be consolidated. This has been particularly effective in the defense of Toretsk. On the 12th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, “[T]he Kursk operation and the border area of Sumy Oblast. Our units in Sumy Oblast are gradually pushing the occupiers back. Thank you! “
In the Kharkiv Oblast, in the farthest northeast corner of the Borova area of operation (AO), Russia released a “see how good we are at war” video that revealed an earlier Ukrainian advance of up to 2,000 meters north of the village. The map was adjusted. Russian forces made marginal gains east of Zelenyi Hai, suffering significant losses to advance one treeline forward.
Ukrainian source DeepState reported that Russian forces occupied Dvorichna, which we have assessed as mostly under Russian control since February 2025.
In the Luhansk Oblast, there were minor frontline adjustments in southern Yampolivka [Donetsk] in the Kreminna AO, with Ukrainian forces making small gains in the forest area near the village.
In the northeastern part of the Donetsk Oblast in the Lyman AO, Russian forces advanced to the eastern edge of Novomykhailivka, where heavy fighting was ongoing. The gray area was expanded north and south of Zelena Dolyna.
In the Siversk AO, Russian forces carried out the fourth picture report flag raising in Hryhorivka since October 2024. We expanded the gray area back into the village.
In the Kostinatynivka AO, Russian forces made significant advances in the forests and higher terrain north of Chasiv Yar, which may become problematic for the continued defense of the remains of the settlement.
